India come third in unicorn race overtakes UK: Hurun report

According to a new Hurun India report, India has surpassed the United Kingdom to take third place with 54 unicorns. According to the report, Bengaluru has more unicorns than cities such as Boston, Palo Alto, Paris, Berlin, and Chicago, among others, with a total of 28 such companies, ranking seventh in the world. Unicorns are unlisted companies worth $1 billion or more. According to the Hurun report, India currently has 54 unicorns, 33 more than the country had in 2020, while the UK currently has 39 unicorns, 15 more than a year ago. According to Hurun Research, India led the way in terms of emigrant unicorn founders, followed by China, Israel, and Russia. According to the report, 65 unicorns were founded outside of India by Indians, including Postman, Innovaccer, Icertis, and Moglix, among others.

“While there are another 65 unicorns founded by Indians abroad, primarily in Silicon Valley, the percentage of homegrown unicorns has increased from one-third to 45 percent, indicating that India’s startup ecosystem is maturing,” said Anas Rahman Junaid, Managing Director and Chief Researcher, Hurun India.According to a new Hurun India report, India has surpassed the United Kingdom to take third place with 54 unicorns.
